Greater Winnipeg Lacrosse League

2026 SEASON INFORMATION

Here are some of the exciting things that will be happening in box lacrosse for 2026:

1. The introduction of all female age categories, with the ability for them to play both female and co-ed if they choose.

2. The U22 age will be starting the season off with an extremely high energy 4on4 Shootout, happening April 11-12.  This is open to all players, regardless if they played last year or not, so long as they are the proper age.  If there are enough female players, we will be offering a U22 Female 4on4 Shootout also.

3. The U22 regular season is continually evolving as we organize a format that will draw the most amount of players into the program.  Any U22 players with suggestions on how the U22 program should be run are encouraged to use the CONTACT US form and share your thoughts.  As an added incentive, any players in our U22 program will be eligible as an Affiliate Player for the Junior B Blizz team.

4. With more anticipated growth, Tiering will be introduced at any age category having 9 or more teams.

5. A fresh set of policies have been created and approved.  They can be found on our website under the ADMINISTRATION tab and are aimed at improving everyone's experience in the game.

6. Clearly defined boundaries have been developed and are now listed on our website under the ABOUT tab.

7. For the u13, u15 and u17 ages, a new and improved A program has been launched that will be run by the Junior Blizz organization, called the Frost.

8. The Blizz has a Junior B and Senior B team playing the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League (PGLL) AND a Junior A team in the Rocky Mountain Larcosse League (RMLL)

9. Lacrosse Canada has announced the move to adopt the World Lacrosse rule book - that means crease diving, no more crease 'cylinder' and larger nets for U17.  Not to mention the ability for U17 to run an offense/defense style bench.

10. For the first time, official boundaries have been established for the clubs.
